ProCurve Mobility v8.21

Lokacije
Hewlett Packard
ProCurve Mobility helps network engineers obtain the knowledge and skills required to design, deploy, manage, and troubleshoot IEEE 802.11-based wireless networks.

Course number HH252S

Delivery method
Onsite dedic ated training (OST)

Course overview
The course provides hands-on experience in configuring and troubleshooting ProCurve mobility infrastructure devices and in using ProCurve Mobility Manager (PMM 2.0) to plan and adjust wireless coverage.

Prerequisites

  • Successful completion of ProCurve Wireless Fundamentals v8.21 and it’s associated self assessment exam (Note: the ASE – ProCurve Networking & Mobility [2008] certification exam HP0-Y18 includes questions on the material covered in this pre-study.)
  • Adaptive EDGE Fundamentals (AEF v4.11 or higher)
  • ProCurve Networking Security (v7.31 or higher)

Audience
ProCurve Networking channel partner systems engineers, network engineers, and other networking professionals.

Certification
ProCurve Mobility v8.21 prepares participants for ASE-ProCurve Networking & Mobility [2008] certification within the HP Certified Professional program. The exam number is HP0-Y18. The test is offered at Prometric testing centers.

Course objectives
After completing ProCurve Mobility v8.21, students will be able to:

  • List the components of the ProCurve mobility solution
  • List the features of the AP 420 and AP 530 and, given a set of customer requirements, select the appropriate AP
  • Install and begin to configure the AP 420 and AP 530
  • List the features of the ProCurve Wireless LAN System, including the Wireless Edge Services Module, the Redundant Wireless Services Module, the wireless services-enabled switch, and the radio ports (RPs)
  • Describe the options for deploying a Wireless Edge Services Module and its associated RPs
  • Describe the purpose of auto-provisioning on the wireless services-enabled switch
  • List the requirements for transmitting traffic from an RP to the Wireless Edge Services Module and on to the wired network
  • Configure static WEP, dynamic WEP, and 802.1X for WLANs on a ProCurve AP 420, AP 530, and Wireless Edge Services Module
  • Configure the internal RADIUS server on the AP 530 and the Wireless Edge Services Module
  • Define radio settings on the AP 420, AP 530, and the Wireless Edge Services Module
  • Describe ProCurve antennas, identify environments in which they meet the coverage and capacity requirements, and configure ProCurve products to use them
  • List advanced radio settings and explain when you might need to modify these settings
  • Describe the factors that affect roaming in a wireless network
  • Describe the network self-healing, anomaly detection, and redundancy group features that the Wireless Edge Services Module provides
  • Use the AP 530’s group configuration feature to configure multiple APs
  • Connect two APs through a wireless bridge (which is also called a wireless distribution system [WDS])
  • Explain how the AP 420, AP 530, and the Wireless Edge Services Module support dynamic virtual LANs (VLANs)
  • Isolate problems to identify where they are occurring on the wireless network
  • Troubleshoot a station, AP 420, AP 530, and a Wireless LAN System
  • Collect information using the products’ management interfaces
  • Solve common problems in booting the products and accessing management interfaces
  • Explain how PMM 2.0 helps you manage the lifecycle of a wireless network:
    - Plan radio frequency (RF) coverage for a new wireless network
    - Manage and configure a wireless network
    - Monitor an existing wireless network
    - Adjust RF coverage or extend an existing wireless network, as needed over time
  • Assess the purpose of a wireless network and identify its security requirements
  • Identify coverage and capacity requirements and select appropriate products and antennas

Benefits to you

  • Participants learn how to configure and manage a wireless network that integrates with a wired network, creating a single unified network
  • Participants participate in hands-on training that will help them manage and support wireless networks in a real-world environment
  • Participants learn how to plan radio frequency (RF) coverage, based on the company’s unique environment and users’ needs
  • Participants learn how to monitor a wireless network and adjust coverage as needed
  • Participants learn how to troubleshoot common problems that occur in wireless networks
